Hon. Justices Arach, Kasule, Bossa Shine at ULS Awards

Three senior judicial officers are among winners at the recently held Uganda Law Society Awards Gala held at the Serena Hotel.
Supreme Court's Hon. Lady Justice Stella Arach-Amoko scooped the Distinguished Service in the Administration of Justice Award.
Court of Appeal's Hon. Justice Remmy Kasule and International Criminal Court's Hon. Lady Justice Solomy Balungi Bossa each received the Senior Counsel Award for their notable contributions as past presidents of ULS. The duo was among 26 people who were bestowed on the honour of Senior Counsel.
The title of Senior Counsel is one of the Special Ranks awarded by the President based on advice by the Chief Justice, Attorney General and the President of the Uganda Law Society (ULS).
It is provided for under the Advocates (Special Rank) Regulations and comes with certain benefits.
The awards were the climax of the second ULS Annual Law Conference held under the theme; "The Legal Profession and Uganda's Economic Development: Locating the Missing Link."
ULS is a fraternal organisation that represents the collective interests of legal practitioners in Uganda.
The Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Bart M. Katureebe, who was the Chief Guest,thanked the ULS for organizing "such a memorable occasion" as he described it.
He congratulated Hon. Lady Justice Arach for her service in the legal profession and thanked her for mentoring him when he joined the bench.
He said the Judiciary would work closely with the bar to uplift the administration of justice in the country.
The gala was punctuated by speeches and recognitions of various members of the Society.
The occasion was graced by numerous other speakers who included distinguished and pre-eminent legal and other personalities such as the Deputy Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo; the Principal Judge, Hon. Justice Dr Yorokamu Bamwine; the Attorney General Mr.William Byaruhanga; the President of the ULS, Mr. Francis Gimara, amongst others.
